Apocalypse Virus Series
The sinister Summerfield Technical Solutions unleashes a virus that kills 40% of humanity, mutates another 40% into giant monsters, leaving 20% to fight and fend for themselves. Ex-soldier Dillon Thompson fights to keep his friends alive while unraveling the mysteries of this new hellscape and the countless connections to his past. (Think Resident Evil meets Clash of the Titans.)
This series goes heavy into Artificial Intelligence, Genetic Experimentation, Nanobots, and geopolitics.
Each book in this 5 book series is named after a different stage of infection; Initial Infection, Symptomatic, Deterioration, Inoperable, and System Failure.

I read a lot of books in this genre and am even writing my own similar to this. Character development was great and the flow of the story from past to present was fantastic and a nice break in between some of the heavy chapters. Had a lot of unanswered questions by the end and I can’t wait till the next one.
